Welcome
Hi I’m Karen. I adore cruising and ship life and have been working and playing on the ocean waves since 2005. So far I’ve been on 25 ships, 35 contracts, 102 countries, six continents, over 250 ports, on over 400 tours, six different jobs, seven cruise lines, countless friends and unforgettable memories made, and I met my incredible husband. Nick is my tech support and made this whole site go from my vision to actually exist – thank you Nick.
I love making new friends around the world, always sample the local dishes (no matter how crunchy or slimy they are), swimming with the fishes (in a non–mafia way), going on adventures, meandering through museums and art galleries, mermaids, listening to the waves lap against the sand while reading on a quiet beach, and learning languages.
I’m here to share my the info and advice I’ve accumulated over the years about traveling from this perspective with you, and hopefully you’ll end up loving it as much as me.
Happy cruising!

I’d like to recommend a wonderful company for the best cruise keepsakes! I just received a beautiful custom map from Cruise Maps that perfectly captures the memories of my wedding cruise in August 2017. The map details our journey from Montreal to Boston, with stops in stunning ports like Quebec City, where our wedding took […]
Mexico: Straight-laced snorkeling with whale sharks
Getting close to gentle sea giants has had tighter restrictions imposed by reputable eco tour companies in recent years, but that hasn’t made this bucket list experience lose any of its magic. “You can’t join in if you’re ill.” Warns Juan. “If you have any perfume or deodorant on your skin – wash it off […]
